Two Funerals, the most-celebrated film at the recent Cinemalaya Film Festival and the first-ever movie to receive a unanimous A rating from the Cinema Evaluation Board, opened its commercial run on Sept. 8 in the following SM Cinema branches--North Edsa, SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, SM Fairview, SM Manila, SM San Lazaro, SM Bacoor, SM Pampanga, SM Cebu, SM Davao.

In Two Funerals, grief and hilarity collide when a funeral parlor in Nueva Ecija accidentally switches the delivery of two bodies during Holy Week at the height of the campaign season for the recent national elections.

Tessie Tomas stars as an outraged mother who undertakes a long journey from her native Tuguegarao, Cagayan to claim her daughter’s body in Matnog, Sorsogon where it was sent by mistake.
She is joined on the two-day cross-Luzon trip by her daughter’s fiancé (Xian Lim) and they are escorted by an effeminate funeral parlor agent (Jeffrey Quizon) in a hearse carrying the stranger’s coffin.

The mother and the fiance’s grief unravels slowly as they observe along the way the various Lenten rituals commemorating the Passion of Jesus Christ, as well as the drama and hijinks of Philippine electoral politics.
Little do they know that in Matnog, no mourning is taking place and it doesn’t matter if the wrong body has been delivered. While the funeral in Tuguegarao is awash in copious tears and heartfelt prayers, the one in Matnog turns into a bacchanal of gambling, singing and dancing.

Two Funerals marks a return to form for veteran filmmaker Gil Portes, who directed the film from an original screenplay by Eric Ramos. It also offers another stellar performance from Tessie, a comedienne who is carving a new niche for herself as an indie actress.

JENN PROSKE – VERY BELLA IN EVERY WAY

There’s a new Bella in town - a.k.a. Becca in the upcoming spoof comedy “Vampires Suck” from geniuses Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer who gave us the laugh-out loud parodies “Scary Movie,” “Date Movie” and “Meet the Spartans.”

Becca, played by Jenn Proske stars in the all-tangled love triangle opposite Matt Lanter , Chris Riggi and Ken Jeong (“Hangover”). In a recent interview with buzzbox.com, Proske revealed that she’s Team Edward but she still has strong feelings for Jacob. “I kind of feel a little bit of pressure because I play Becca, the Bella character. Plus, Matt Lanter who plays Edward looks good on set! Matt was amazing. I had never been on camera before and was nervous that whoever I was working with would judge me. He was so willing to teach me tips and was so friendly. We hang out all the time but we’re just friends,” Proske gushes.
Jenn definitely nailed every bit of Bella’s character such that after one major audition, she immediately got called in for “Vampires Suck.” This is by far her first major audition after graduating from Boston University at 2009, though Jenn relates that she was I originally got called in for Alice Cullen, but knew that she wasn’t quite right for the role. “I knew I felt the Kristen Stewart role more so I had to go in 7 or 8 times,” recalls Jenn.

Asked what’s in store for the Twilight fans and Twi-haters in “Vampires Suck” – “There’s something for everyone in this movie! Everything is done in a very funny way and I think it’s hysterical!” Jen says.

“Vampires Suck” opens August 25 in theaters from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

Knight and Day Movie Review

James Mangold did a very good job in this movie. The combination of Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz is for the win. The story is very well written and I can say that it was a good choice of characters. It was obviously a very fun movie, what makes it more funny is it was a bit of comic story.If I were to rate this on a scale of 1 to 5 ,I give 3.

I think that the story was an original idea of James Mangold, so kudos on that! There was also a great transition when it comes to change of location. So I did like the whole concept, except that I was expecting a bed scene form the two. Maybe they were too old for that but that would not be an excuse.

Reasons why you should watch Knight and Day;

• It’s a showcase of Tom Cruise’ charisma
• Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz love team was a great performance.
• You will learn tricks, tactics and spying.
• Not just a movie but a tour to beautiful countries.

Shrek Forever After Movie Review

Shrek Forever After Movie was artistically done. In terms of setting, voice execution and story I can say that it really came out of great talents and excellent creativity. The style of presenting this is well studied and well researched. It was a nice choice of production. It was well thought and attractive. The attempt to provide fun and humor was a success, the punchlines and jokes were funny.

I am sure that children would still love this final chapter of Shrek. In this movie I am not so impressed of Shrek's character challenging an evil dragon, it is being done by all hero characters with this kind of story. But Director Mike Mitchell and writers Josh Klausner and Darren Lemke could have put some effort to think of a different twist in this part.

Rescuing a beautiful princess for me is the story's climax. In every fairy tale love saves everything. Great execution on this part since the way they put everything back was not by just an ordinary love. This will also influence the viewers that true love never dies.

The Losers premiered on the 21st of April 2010 in the Philippine's Glorietta 4 cinema 1. This cinema is a perfect venue for this kind of movie- an action packed and a well written story.

The cast Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana and Chris Evans seems to be veterans when it comes to portraying professional detectives. Their actions were realistic. I can say that director Sylvain White made a good decision in choosing them.

Since this is an action movie there are some seens which are not suitable for young audiences. But for mature ones for sure you`ll get to enjoy Aisha and Clay's love scenes and you will laugh out loud with the humor and the witty scenes. Just a tip, pay attention to this film , it`s like mission impossible on a modern way with a few twist.

I like how the movie was set up. It gives you the idea how a tech and savvy people behaves and they do have a certain level of influence to the audience.

I am sure that you will also like their soundtrack. I really enjoyed watching this film despite of being disturbed by a crying baby in front of my seat. As I was overwhelmed I actually tweeted about it.

NICOLAS CAGE FIGHTS CRIME WITH KICK-ASS SUPERHEROES!

This Summer, a new breed of superheroes will be revealed!

Teen geek and comic book fanatic Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson) makes a totally bizarre but brave decision--- he is going under disguise as a superhero, minus the superpowers. And he’s going to be known as Kick-Ass. Donned in a green and yellow wetsuit bought online, he prowls the city to fight crime. However, he’s not the only superhero out there. The fearless and highly-trained father-daughter crime-fighting duo Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) and Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) have been slowly but surely taking down the criminal empire of local Mafioso Frank D’Amico (Mark Strong). Another fledgling superhero joins them by the name of Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), who happens to be Frank’s son.

KICK-ASS is based on the comic book of the same name written by Mark Millar and illustrated by John Romita, Jr. When Mark pitched his story to Matthew Vaughn, director of the blockbuster film Stardust, the latter was impressed and immediately agreed to direct the movie and write the screenplay with Jane Goldman, also his co-writer of Stardust. Vaughn and Goldman were keen that their movie wouldn’t simply be a carbon copy of Millar’s book hence the back-story of Nicolas Cage’s character Big Daddy.

Cage was offered the choice of playing Frank D’Amico or Damon Macready, a.k.a. Big Daddy, and responded strongly to the latter. He says, “I thought that was where the heart was, in the relationship between Big Daddy and Hit Girl. I thought that’s where the emotion could be.”

While Cage got his role easily, it took time before Aaron Johnson landed the role of Dave/Kick-Ass. Vaughn had turned down his audition tape without viewing it, but when the director finally watched it, he was certain Johnson was perfect for the role. “My take on it was he was a young lad, a comic book fan, who was shy with girls. He doesn’t have a whole lot going for him, so he tries to stand out from the crowd by becoming a superhero, and that’s when he becomes interesting,” Johnson says. “It’s teenage high-school humor mixed with dark, messed-up violence,” he adds.

The Red Mist character went to Christopher Mintz-Plasse after he read for the role of Dave. “I guess I had too much energy and charisma!” he laughs. Red Mist is a rich, but lame kid who desperately wants to garner the affection of his father. He may not be superhero-material, but Red Mist definitely makes a grand entrance with his red Ford Mustang, which he uses to cruise the streets of New York. One of the movie’s funniest scenes had Kick-Ass and Red Mist drive along while dancing. “We were just messing around with it,” says Johnson, “Sitting there and doing a ridiculous dance. It was hilarious. Matthew was like, ‘I might actually use that’. And he did!”

For Chloë Grace Moretz, the role of Hit Girl was something of a gift. “I was screaming for three days straight when I got the role because I was so much looking forward to doing a fantasy movie and wearing a superhero costume.” Everyone agrees that Hit Girl is the superhero who puts the kick-ass in KICK-ASS. Scene after scene, Hit Girl mows down scores of D’Amico’s henchmen like an unstoppable squirrel that’s armed to the teeth. “I did about four to five months of training before the movie started. It was crazy. I did a thousand crunches a night and like 70 push-ups and 70 pull-ups.” The training also involved getting to grips with Hit Girl’s weapons, including her favorite, a butterfly knife. “It’s like a third hand,” she says. “By the end of the filming,” admits Johnson, “she could take me and Chris on at once, and take us both down. She became a mini-Schwarzenegger!”

The Blind Side

   Based from the real life story of American Football Player Michael Oher and how he became part of the Touhy family. His becoming part of the family turned his life into wonderful time coming from a traumatic background of being separated from his real family. Starring Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw as the generous Touhy couple who adopted Michael Oher played by Quinton Aaron.

   The story was written and directed by John Lee Hancock from the 2006 book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game by Michael Lewis. Movie wise, it was well written except that some scenes are unbelievable. Some situations in the movie were too perfect; First when the Touhy Couple adopted Michael, in real life they might argue about adopting a stranger just like normal couples do, but not in this movie. Having a person whom you don’t really know is quite dangerous. Second Michael’s character was too kind. In this movie there was no sign where he was tempted to do bad things like stealing or destroying something in the house. In real life he could have been tempted to do it since he was allowed to do and have everything and besides he came from a ghetto society. Third the Touhy couple had a daughter same age with Michael. That could be something uncomfortable but it was not. Fourth, it is questionable how did Michael entered Wingate Christian School when he has no parents and he was homeless. How come he was allowed to come to school when all he had was a pair of clothes?

   Last January 26 together with my movie buddies I had the chance to watch The Blind Side in advance. This movie is where Sandra Bullock won Best Actress from the 67th Golden Globe Awards. She played Leigh Anne Touhy a loving wife to Sean Touhy. Her character evolved when he met Michael who happens to be her daughter’s classmate( Collins ) and friend of her son SJ. She took Michael home one winter night upon learning out he was homeless. From that night Michael found a new home and family. Leigh Anne was a good Samaritan to Michael. She and her husband adopted Michael and gave all his needs including food, own room, education, football career and clothes. Michael was having difficulties in his studies but Leigh Anne hired a private tutor for him. Michael refuses to answer any questions in school but he was diagnosed that he possessed a high percentage on defense and protecting self and others. The Touhy couple brought him to learn to play American Football wherein he was able to connect his past, his feelings, his experiences and his dream. He became a superstar in football and he became a superstar in the lives of the Touhys.

   Out of curiosity what kind of acting does Sandra has in this movie, I tried studying on her role and there was nothing new I’ve seen from other dramatic actress. Not even mellow dramatic tears and emotional scenes. She just played a typical mother and wife but there was something beyond her character in this movie She was an extraordinary inspiring. So I was imagining if the real Leigh Anne Touhy would relly be like her. As beautiful, lovely and generous as her.? If yes , then she could be the perfect mother in the world. I wish she could be my Mom. I think that Sandra did a good job. She has touched the heart of the audience including mine.

   This is not just a movie to share but a story to cherish. Watching this movie is great feeling. A movie which inspires everyone to help others. That there are no barriers in helping for the sake of other’s improvement. It also promotes family values and significance of friendship. This the best film out of a simple story.

Travolta and Meyers in "From Paris With Love"

Chemistry creates a good match. The on-screen tandem of actors John Travolta and Jonathan Rhys Meyers assures a new addition to the elite list of effective pairs lighting up the big screen.

This February, a no-nonsense buddy relationship happens in theaters, with a veteran act stirring it up with someone with 'enough presence to play opposite him.' From Paris With Love, with director Pierre Morel (Taken), ensures audiences of a 'credible comedy with a dramatic story.'

Here, Travolta portrays the role of secret American agent Charlie Wax who is in Paris for a high-risk mission and who crosses paths with embassy worker James Reese (Meyers) who wants to become a real agent. The film follows the two on a journey through one of the world's most popular cities, with all the comedic dialogue and situations while Wax serves as mentor for Reese.

"Jonathan and I both have a similar attack on acting, (approaching it) in a very naturalistic way," says Travolta. He explains, "Our energies are similar in that we keep the fire lit throughout a scene and if we don’t, we make it happen."

Travolta has only good words for Meyers who already won a Golden Globe for his starring role in the CBS television miniseries Elvis and got nominated twice for playing Henry the VIII in the Showtime original series The Tudors. He points out. "He is a brilliant actor and I think out of all the young actors, he is probably the most gifted. All his performances prove that because they are diversified and they're believable and they're classic."

Meyers is likewise in awe of Travolta much more than one can easily scale. He said, "In Face Off, I think he did a brilliant job with being Nic Cage! You don’t have the physicality to portray the person you are meant to play and I think he really nailed that."

Meyers separates his character from that of Travolta and shows how that difference makes a big difference: "I have to go through a lot of really dorky stuff, ethical issues and Reese is far more ethical than Wax. So it’s a buddy movie where there are people who have different ideals, yet have the same goal which they're going towards to."

When I had the chance to watch it`s premiere I learned about the value his story, I haven`t read his stories yet but I was able to know more about him during the movie. He has a great character and I salute him for that.

This type of movie is so entertaining and that keeps the viewers guess what is his villain’s motive, what would be Sherlock`s plan, what would be Watson`s reaction. His goodwill works and justice has prevailed the cruel intentions of Blackwood – his villain. A hero like Sherlock is someone to be proud of; nothing escapes them, even criminals. And their chemistry makes a great impact on friendship of best friends.
Sherlock was a good friend to Dr. Watson; he was always beside him until he gets to help him find the most precious ring for the love of his life. It was not easy for Watson to do that but Sherlock was able to manage it.

I was not expecting to really laugh out loud in this movie but I did.
It was funnier as I watched it August 6 at Greenbelt Cinema, thanks to Warner Bros. c/o Az and Ms. Sionee.
I consider this movie as one of my favorite comedy film as of this year.
I really had a hangover from laughing.
This group of bachelors were really outrageous from the very moment of their jokes: Doug,Phil,Stu and Alan.
I was like puzzled the whole time what happened the night before they drank. And the more they begin to uncover , the more it gets really funny.
It is rare to feel but I would like to see this movie again.
And surely I will not remember anything when I woke up the next day.
It was nice to see Heather Graham in the big screen after seeing her in the blockbuster hit Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. She was really gorgeous in this film. It was exciting to know that her role here is a stripper.
There`s one more gorgeous babe to watch out here. She is Sasha Barrese

I am one of the lucky bloggers invited by TV 5 to watch Terminator Salvation.I am not a Terminator fan so I really can`t relate with the elements present in this movie.But I was amazed with the super high tech robots and gadgets here.All I can say is When Arnold Schwarzenneger specially appeared the crowd was cheering.The only moment I hear them scream . I cannot distinguish which part is the past,which is the present.Why are they fighting? What is the role of the child? I really can`t understand everything.

Solar Films presents Fast and Furios
From the very beginning this movie was breathtaking.I was like holding to my seat as I am amazed at the same time scared with the racing scenes.
It makes me want to watch all Fast and Furios movies.
Altough I can`t relate to some scenes due to incomplete info.I had great time watching it.The thrill of watching fast cars racing is doubled for it was also like a mind game, the character of Braga was so mysterious and made me think a lot who he really is.
I also like O`connor`s detective skills and how he was able to penetrate as an agent.
I like the twist of the story specially when (Paul Walker ) O`connor pretended himself as one of those racers , it was a difficult situation but in the end proved courage more than anybody.

In the movie ,Romano (Robin Padilla), a retired military operative gifted with a mystic eye ,returns to Manila from Baguio ,together with his sister Isabel (Rhian Ramos) and childhood friend Louella (Sunshine Dizon).They are joined by an aspiring actress ,Kristina (Katrina Halili), a widow ,Lumen (Glydel Mercado) ,and his son (Hero Angeles) along with Louella`s driver Baste (Mark Bautista).

Ironically,their Manila bound vehicle was doomed when they managed to avoid a fatal accident or their “sundo” by a twist of fate.In no time , a series of catastrophic incidents followed endangering the lives of the passengers ,including Romano whose visions seem to be causing their ill fate.

With the clock ticking ahead ,Romano and the rest of the passengers fight tooth and nail as they struggle to defeat the wrath of the evil spirit.Will they be able to survive the looming threat of death in their lives or could it be too late?

Aside from the powerhouse cast of Sundo, versatile actress Iza Calzado and cager Simon Atkins as well as veteran actresses Jacklyn Jose , Estrella Kuenzler , Odette Khan,Mely Tagasa and Rina Reyes will deliver significant performances in the film .Viewers ought to see how their characters will intensify the message of how death is certain,unforeseen, and difficult to defeat.

There was an English Old racist man who hates the world.Maybe due to old age and being alone.
Everyone around him wants his Gran Torino and everything else he owns.
Like his family,friends and neighbors.
He gradually became soft and even the most tolerable person upon the attempt of his Asian neighbors to please him.
To avoid spoiling the excitement for this that`s it for now.

I am not an avid viewer of Clint Eastwood films but it was surprise to know that he is both the Director and Producer of this film.It is hard to imagine that Clint could have made that idea.No wonder he really delivered his peice so well. Does Clint really speaks that Husky in real life or that was actiing the whole time.Everytime scenes were so serious there will always be a chop of funny humour with it.That`s why even if it`s a bit boring and sad it pulls every single heartstring.Kudos to the Asian actors for doing great job.I wish I could be like them.And thinking of the story all over again I really can`t accept the kind of ending.I wish something happen which was favor to him.Whatever it is,Gran Torino is a brilliant idea of Clint Eastwood.

Bob Marley is a true legend,this Dog in the movie was named after him.
While playing the song "One Love" then begins the baptizing of the name Marley.
Marley and Me is a story of a couple who can`t have any child at first,newly weds John and Jenny Grogan
So they adopted a puppy for them to become happy.They didn`t just became happy,their life went to wacky and riot.
Marley is a cute yellow labrador until he became a 100-pound steamroller of unbridled energy who flanks obedience school,chew off dry-wall,takes a bite out of the Sofa,overturns garbage can,steals Thanksgiving turkey,consumes pillows and flowers,drinks toilet water,and chases the UPS guy.He even swallowed Jenny`s expensive necklace.
There is a nice influence seeing this kind of movie.
Love for animals turns out love for human beings.
It is a story that captures everybody`s heart,a story about friendship inspite of competition,a story about the essence of journalism and story of giving importance to family.
I cried at the end of the movie when Marley died.It was so overwhelming.

Last January 20 Tuesday night we were lucky bloggers to first see this Movie.
There is a strong point of beginning as the child narrates his life and how it was changed.I see Australia as a beautiful place specificly the outback.
The real point here is it`s story was extraordinary,really far from a simple imagination.It is a story of epic,love and mystic.
There is so much attachment between the love of a mother to a child.
There is importance of learning to love from a heart who lives in hatred.
This happened during the world war 2 in Australia.And although it tells about history this will be remembered for it`s moral lesson.
I was touched by this story.
I feel sorry for the animals harmed here.When the Kangaroo was shot they were laughing,and my heart was mourning.
I find it better than Love Me Again

My review:
One night only is a familiar concept for me.
but it`s really cool movie.
Scenes of Chokoleit and Joross remarked as one of the funniest
Paolo and Alex scene as well.
I am one of those who didn`t expect a lot from this movie,
Surprisingly it`s humour was simply realistic that turns out to be wacky comedy.
We were all laughing like crazy.

Synopsis

It all happened in one night.

Free- spirited and money hungry Jasmine (Katrina Halili) was all set to leave for Hong Kong with her new Chinese lover when her Congressman-benefactor Facundo (Ricky Davao) decided to have his return of investment. Forced to comply with a rather angry lawmaker, Jasmine had no other choice but to give in to the demands of this hot-blooded sponsor lest she be exposed for her frivolities.

Meanwhile, in a movie set, hunk actor Diego (Paolo Contis) was wrestling with a major issue involving a reporter named Meliton (Ogie Diaz) whom he beat up when the latter exposed his shady past. But this was really beyond Diego’s concerns for he had his eyes set on one of the talents on his set, a naive looking extra named Angela (Alessandra de Rossi). As he was manipulating events to get this girl in bed, he remained in touch with his best friend, Pons (Jon Avila).

Pons was a stud who worked as an advertising executive. And he too wanted to bed Vicky (Valerie Concepcion), a girl he met in Boracay. After spending so much on Vicky when they met on vacation, Pons realized that he was short-changed when she passed out on him. Unknown to the man, another girl-–Vivian (Diana Zubiri), a friend of Jasmine, was feeling guilty because she did not give in to the demands of Pons the night before when they went out on a date. So now she was determined to make appropriate amends.

The gay hairdresser of Facundo’s wife, Inday, was equally excited that day. Edward (Chokoleit) was a flamboyant beautician who was finally having his moment of truth with a man whom he has been taking care of for the past months. Edward mas madly in love with Nestor (Joross Gamboa) and this was the night that he will propose to him.

On the set where Diego was trying to get into the pants of Angela, the supervisor of the talents was a bull dyke named George (Manilyn Reynes). She was carrying on an affair with the make-up artist named Elvie (Jennylyn Mercado). Elvie, who happens to be the cousin of Vicky, wanted to end this relationship because she wanted to live a normal life. And this sent the lesbian’s world crashing.

Because of certain twists and turns and circumstances, all these characters ended up in the same motel called Lover’s Hideaway.

What happened was a night of chaos and confusion. What transpired for the next twelve hours would forever be part of their lives…and trauma.

This is my second time to watch this movie and it`s really worth watching again.
I was just curious for the second time .And same with others I thought it was a sci-fi movie in the beginning.The story was really lovely,it talks about life and love.
Clarity captures every viewers heart .
and it`s true that no one should be treated badly because of their differences.
There are so much lessons to learn here:
How Choices affects us as individuals, our lives, the people around us and their lives, and the rest of the world.
this story is in the mode of goodness

The characters and story are deep yet related.
Great performances by the cast.
Each and every detail are meaningful
Art Direction was really amazing, imaginatively astounding.

There really is nothing wrong with this film. Even with a runtime of about 160 minutes,
The tears of my friends are rewardless.
This wonderful movie is recommended to anyone.

The overall Production was fantastic,specially the prosthetic ,the Art team did a good job in bringing the old scenes into reality.The costumes used in the movie were all elegant.
The story was unbelievable but it`s worth watching for.
It`s full of detail.Though it`s really long it`s enjoying and the humor is captivating.
The places are beautiful and lovely.
Music was lonely but it fits the story.
Special Effects are fantastic,not so expected in this kind of movie.
And the main characters are really great,They`ve been performing well since the beginning.
This is a masterpiece.
